In the name of Allah, the most compassionate, most merciful.
“Read in the name of your Lord, the one who created [all that exists]. He created man from a clot. Read and your Lord is the most generous, who has taught [the writing] by the pen; He has taught man that which he knew not.” {Surah Al-Alaq 96:1-5}
In the moments following the first revelation of Islam, prophet Muhammad ﷺ felt the immense weight of the journey he was setting on, coupled with trepidation over it. we often perceive our heroes as being brave in the face of every adversity. however the bravest of heroes ﷺ was but a man who understood the gravity of the responsibility he ﷺ was chosen for. Nabi ﷺ ran home, panicked, searching for comfort from his ﷺ beloved wife Khadija (may Allah be pleased with her) who instantly embraced him ﷺ. with the composure afforded to him ﷺ by her reassurances, Habib ﷺ gained strength and resilience enough to persevere through the life shattering difficulties that were to follow. his ﷺ goal in all of this was to spread the love of the Creator ﷻ amongst His ﷻ creation.
Simply aspiring to preach and pass on this divine love to others is a great responsibility that I constantly remind myself not to take lightly. this message is the torch of Nabi’s ﷺ luminous legacy and in attempting to spread it, we become his ﷺ inheritors. every single Muslim that works to raise awareness of the beauty of Islam has connected himself to Rasool ﷺ in the most meaningful way. when I pick up my pen to write, I hope to interlace with its ink the love of Allah ﷻ for others to read and for the angels to record. in so many ways, the opening verses of Surah Al-Alaq signify the importance of reading, writing, learning, and reaching out to others, all in glorification of Allah ﷻ.
in today’s atmosphere, the precepts Nabi ﷺ set through his ﷺ example are our lifeline. this is what the efforts of the brothers and sisters at America’s Islamic Radio embody. whilst speaking to br. Kevin, I was struck by the beauty of his sincerity. i could tell from his words that he shared in the same feeling of dedication to the prophetic message of love as the great Muslims of the past. in the words of the celebrated Imam Ashafi (may Allah ﷻ have mercy on him), although I myself may not be from amongst the pious, i hope through their company to achieve some status near Allah ﷻ. thus, with great trepidation and excitement over the road ahead, i am honored to join a group of Muslims devoted to raising the word of Allah ﷻ and continuing the work of our Beloved ﷺ.
May Allah ﷻ elevate, increase, place sincerity in, and accept all of our actions. Ameen.
