Vilma Santos
Vilma Santos was born and raised in Puerto Rico. She studied Education at the Inter American University of Puerto Rico and she is also a graphic and interior designer. Her knowledge and development in Islamic Studies has led her to become a community activist for over 10 years! She has been speaking about Islam since the age of 33 and holds the title of Chapter Leader of IslamInSpanish New York.
Additionally, she was nominated and won the “Woman Impact of the Year” award, presented by the United Nations. Amongst her other accolades, she is also the winner of the Humanity Award of 2014 and the Community Hero Award of 2018.
Vilma has been involved with a variety of programs, including “Building Bridges of Peace,” her show on America’s Islamic Radio.


Maria Shaikh
Maria Shaikh is a junior at Stony Brook University studying Philosophy and Political Science on her way to Law School.
Maria Has Helped Organize Several Muslim Round table and has focused on engaging the Muslim youth with their local, state, and federal representatives to push legislation and bills forward.
She Believes that the only way to bring change is to advocate for it yourself. Maria Is Dedicating her life to being an attorney and social activist not only to bring awareness to various social issues, but also to educate her community about their constitutional rights as American Citizen.
She is also a radio host on Americas Islamic Radio with her exciting new show, Unscripted!
Hanaa Ahmad
Hanaa Ahmad is a senior at Stony Brook University, pursuing the Anthropology major on the Pre-Med track. She takes profound interest in the Social Sciences and has also been involved in various leadership roles on campus. She enjoys reading books, watching movies, drinking coffee and bubble tea, and eating lots of food! She also enjoys spending quality time with friends and family.
She is a co-host of the show “Unscripted” on America’s Islamic Radio. Through this platform, she intends to relate to the Muslim youth and also share her experiences as a Muslim American. She also aims to reach out to the non-Muslim population and clear up the misconceptions they perceive about Islam and the Muslim Ummah (community).

Mikaeel Abdur Rahman
Mikaeel was born and raised in Queens, New York; he is ethnically Puerto Rican. He earned his degree in Islam from Azaadville University in South Africa. He reverted to Islam 23 years ago and has been a religious scholar in the Queens area for several years. He previously served as the Dean of Darul Uloom New York Islamic School.
Additionally, he has his own show “Quran Tafseer with Mikaeel” on America’s Islamic Radio, where he educates our viewers about the verse-by-verse English translation of the Holy Qur’an.
The Halal Girl
The Halal Girl is an aspiring teacher and a lifelong learner. her roots are firmly planted in the New York city Muslim community and she hopes to give back as much to her community as it has provided her. a self proclaimed “sentimental without a cause,” she writes for various websites, including her eponymous blog. this second-generation American covers a wide range of topics, from lifestyle and productivity to postcolonialism, with the intention of spreading the prophetic message of love to anyone willing to listen.
in an environment where remaining covered can be isolating, she is forging a path to ensure that every girl, regardless of the cloak she dons, has a seat at the table in our most important conversations as a community.
